YL-MBS14-X is a Φ48×48mm narrow beam in ground uplight that throws one defined column of light up a wall rather than a broad wash. Installed 50–200mm off the face, the single CREE XTE 3W emitter at CRI 90Ra holds a sharp beam edge over a 2–3m rise on concrete, travertine and painted render. DC12-24V, IP67, Φ35mm cut-out, 500kg static load for non-trafficked landscape and planting areas.

Sited 50–200mm off the face, the beam optic renders one column with a clean edge over a 0.2–0.5m rise, rather than a soft wash. The narrow footprint fits gaps too tight for a standard 90mm uplight - planter edges, kerb reveals, tight courtyards.

A wide wash grazes the surface and prints every trowel mark and patch repair. A defined column reads as a deliberate line, so architects use it on concrete, travertine and older render where the finish will not survive close inspection.

Compact Φ48mm Recessed Uplights for Tight Planters, Kerb Reveals and Retrofit Gaps

Standard Φ90mm and Φ120mm inground uplights will not fit the 60–80mm reveal between a planter kerb and a wall face, which forces designers to surface-mount and expose the fixture. At Φ48mm with a Φ35mm cut-out, this unit installs in gaps too narrow for conventional bodies. Particularly suited to retrofit work on completed courtyards, where the paving is already laid and large-diameter coring is not an option.

Low-Load Recessed Ground Lights for Planted Wall Bases and Non-Trafficked Zones

Buyers routinely over-specify drive-over fixtures for locations that never see a vehicle, paying two to three times the unit cost for load capacity they will not use. This fixture is rated 500kg static - correct and cost-appropriate for planted wall bases, gravel margins and mulched borders. It is not rated for vehicle loading, and we will say so at enquiry rather than after installation. Confirm the traffic condition of each position before final quantity release.

01.   What is an LED ground burial light?

An LED ground burial light is a fixture designed to be fully buried in soil or hardscape, with a reinforced housing and sealed lens engineered to withstand ground moisture, soil pressure, and foot traffic. The term is used interchangeably with in-ground or recessed ground light, though "burial" often implies a deeper, heavier-duty housing intended for soft ground rather than paving.

02.  Do ground burial lights need a mounting sleeve?

A mounting sleeve - sometimes called a burial pot or installation ring - is strongly recommended because it holds the excavation open, sets the exact finished height, and lets you remove the fixture later without digging. Installing directly into backfilled soil makes future servicing destructive. Most quality manufacturers sell a matched sleeve for each housing size.

03.  Can ground burial lights be installed in concrete?

Yes, but the sleeve must be cast into the concrete during the pour, with conduit run to it before the slab is finished. Once concrete cures, retrofitting requires core drilling, which is expensive and risks hitting reinforcement. Plan fixture positions at the slab design stage and cap the sleeves during the pour to keep them clear.

04.  What voltage should ground burial lights be?

Low-voltage 12V or 24V is preferred for buried fixtures because a damaged cable poses far less shock risk in wet ground. Low-voltage systems also allow shallower cable burial and simpler DIY installation. Use 240V mains-voltage fixtures only for long cable runs where voltage drop becomes a problem, and always with professional installation and RCD protection.

05.  How do you install LED recessed ground lights in pavers?

Cut or omit a paver to fit the fixture sleeve, set the sleeve on a compacted gravel bed, run cable through conduit beneath the paver base, and bed the surrounding pavers so their surface sits flush with the lens. Do not mortar the fixture solidly in place - leave the sleeve accessible so the light can be lifted out for service.

06.  Why did my LED recessed ground light stop working?

The most common causes are water ingress into the driver, a corroded connector, voltage drop on an over-long cable run, and driver failure from heat. Test by measuring voltage at the fixture: if voltage is present and correct, the fixture has failed; if it's low or absent, the fault is in the cable, connector, or transformer.
