The YL-MBS08-X is a Φ48×48mm round in-ground spotlight built around a single CREE CXA1304 COB chip delivering 380lm, with 12°/24°/36°/50° beam options and a Φ35mm cut-out. A 304 stainless steel face ring over a 6063 aluminum body gives IP67 protection for uplighting trees, shrubs and ornamental planting, plus in-ground runs along park walkways and greenways.

1. Four beam angles: 12° / 24° / 36° / 50°

 

Four beam angles are stocked on the same Φ48×48mm body: 12° for uplighting 8–10m trees, 24° and 36° for shrub groups, 50° for wall washing. Specifying the angle at order stage removes on-site aiming guesswork, and one part number covers four lighting effects across a single project.

2. 304 stainless steel face ring + 6063 aluminum body

 

The face ring is 304 stainless steel and the heat-sink body is 6063 aluminum - stainless resists soil salts and de-icing chemicals, while 6063 pulls heat off the 3W COB. Rated IP67, the fixture stays sealed under 1m of water for 30 minutes, surviving irrigation flooding and gravel-bed drainage.

3. Φ35mm cut-out

 

Installation uses a Φ35mm core hole, one of the smallest apertures in the 3W in-ground class. A single 35mm hole saw handles a full walkway run, cutting drilling time per fixture and keeping cuts small enough to retrofit into finished decking, stone paving and tree-root zones without re-laying surfaces.

4. DC12-24V low voltage at 3W

 

Running on DC12-24V SELV at 3W, the unit is safe for lawns, planters and pond edges where 220V cabling is not permitted. A single 100W low-voltage driver powers up to 26 fixtures at 80% load, so a 20-light garden scheme needs one driver and one cable run.

01.   What is the difference between outdoor in ground spotlights and garden        ground spotlights?

The terms overlap, but "spotlight" usually refers to a narrow beam of 10°–24° used to highlight a single object, while general garden ground spotlights often come with wider 30°–60° optics for washing a surface. If you are lighting a statue, a column or a tall tree, choose the narrow beam. For flower beds, hedges and low shrubs, the wider beam gives a softer, more even result.

02.  How many watts do I need for ground lights for trees?

Beam distance matters more than wattage. As a rough guide: 3W for shrubs under 2 m, 6W–9W for trees 3–5 m, 12W–18W for mature trees 6–10 m, and 24W or more for anything taller. For very tall trees, use two fixtures placed 1–2 m from the trunk at opposite angles instead of one oversized unit - this removes the harsh "single shadow" look.

03.  What color temperature works best in a garden?

2700K–3000K warm white flatters brick, stone, wood and warm-toned foliage, and it is what most residential customers prefer. 4000K neutral white suits modern architecture, grey stone and silver-leaf plants. Green foliage looks most natural at 3000K with CRI 80+. We recommend keeping one color temperature across the whole garden; mixing 3000K and 4000K in the same sightline looks unintentional.

04.  What does an LED ground burial light need in terms of load rating?

Check the static load rating on the datasheet. Fixtures in planting beds only need around 500 kg. Walkways and patios should be 1000 kg or higher. If cars will drive over the fixture, you need a drive-over rated model of 2000 kg–5000 kg with a tempered glass lens of at least 8 mm and a stainless steel or die-cast aluminum trim ring.

05.  Which body material should I choose - aluminum, stainless steel or brass?

Die-cast aluminum with anodized or powder-coated finish is the standard, best value option for inland projects. 316 stainless steel is the choice for coastal sites, pool decks and anywhere with salt or chlorine exposure. Solid brass costs more but develops a natural patina and lasts the longest in aggressive environments. Avoid 304 stainless steel within 5 km of the sea.

06.  Should I use 12V or 240V/120V fixtures?

12V low-voltage systems are safer around water and planting, easier for homeowners to extend later, and are usually permitted for DIY installation. Mains-voltage fixtures avoid the need for a transformer and cope better with long cable runs. If you choose 12V, size the transformer with 20% headroom and keep cable runs short enough to avoid voltage drop, otherwise the furthest fixture will look dim.
